The head of the US Navy: We are not keeping up with the construction of warships in China
The United States continues to talk more and more about the threat from China. This time about the growing Chinese military navy, which poses a threat to the United States, said the head of the country's Navy, Carlos Del Toro.
Del Toro said.
He also accused China of trying to violate the maritime sovereignty and economic well-being of US allies around the world. At the same time, high-ranking American officials, as always, forget about how many times they themselves violated the sovereignty of other countries.
To counter the Chinese threat, Del Toro said, America needs to increase its fleet in both quantity and quality. The head of the US Navy noted that in the coming years, China's naval forces could reach 400 ships, compared with the current 340. And this despite the fact that the US fleet has less than 300 ships.
According to a plan released last year, the US Navy aims to reach 350 ships by 2045, still far short of China's projected fleet increase.
At the same time, it is noted that for a certain period the US fleet will even decrease due to the decommissioning of old ships and support vessels.
One of the reasons for this lag Del Toro called the lack of production capacity in the country. There are more shipyards in China for building naval vessels, he said, and some of them have a capacity greater than that of the United States.
In addition, a big problem is the lack of skilled labor at these shipyards, the head of the US Navy believes. In this regard, China is not experiencing difficulties, since it is free from any kind of rules that tie the hands of the Americans, the official said. What kind of "rules that bind hands" in question is not reported.
Del Toro still found the advantage of the American fleet over the Chinese. In his opinion, this advantage is the American shipbuilders and sailors, who are intellectually superior to the Chinese, which makes the US Navy "more modern, more combat-ready and more deadly" than China's.
