The 6G30 grenade launcher was developed in 1993 by the designers of TsKIB SOO V.N. Teles and B.A. Borzov. Already in mid-1994, experienced grenade launchers were tested by combat in Chechnya, receiving positive feedback.
The 6G30 design is extremely simplicity and manufacturability, built according to a scheme with a barrel block rotated by a winding spring, and a self-cocking trigger mechanism. The clockwork spring is torsionally and started by turning the barrel unit while loading. The barrel block includes six 40 mm mortars, the barrel of the mortar barrel is similar to the GP 25 barrel, but, unlike the GP 25, the barrel has an inseparable bottom with holes for a light drummer and ejector.
The trigger mechanism is equipped with an automatic (does not allow a shot with the front cover open or not fully closed) and non-automatic flag fuses. The barrel block rotates 1/6 turn after you shoot, when the trigger returns its spring back, putting the loaded barrel under the trigger. The rotation and fixation of the barrel block produces a ratchet mechanism. It is possible to rotate the barrel block by hand. The front cover leans on an axis to load the barrel unit. Folding sights include an adjustable front sight and a frame sight from 100 to 400 m. Butt - retractable tubular, shoulder rest is equipped with a rubber shock absorber.
Shooting up to 300 m is carried out with the butt resting on the shoulder, large with a butt clamped under the arm.
