How against COVID-19: Estonian Prime Minister called on EU countries to jointly purchase weapons for Kyiv
The head of the Estonian government, Kaja Kallas, invites Europeans to fight against Russia, as against the COVID-19 pandemic. Then they jointly purchased life-saving vaccines against coronavirus, and now, according to the Prime Minister of Estonia, they need to “throw down” on military equipment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Kallas made such a statement when she arrived at the European Union summit in Brussels.
- said the Prime Minister of Estonia.
The scheme proposed by her assumes that the EU countries will allocate the necessary funds, the European Commission will take over the purchases, which will then be sent to Ukraine.
According to a high-ranking Estonian official, the West should reduce the delivery time for military equipment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and her proposal will allow it to be done. The equipment available in warehouses in European countries will not be enough to meet the needs of Kyiv. The Estonian prime minister believes that the European defense industry is obliged to increase the production of weapons in order to cover the needs of the Kyiv regime.
Callas said.
Last summer, Josep Borrell, head of European diplomacy, made a similar proposal. He also urged EU countries to increase production weapons, though not to be sent to Kyiv, but to replenish stocks of military equipment in exchange for those previously sent to Ukraine.
