American Institute for the Study of War: Russian Armed Forces seized the initiative and launched a major offensive in the LNR
Experts from the American Institute for the Study of War believe that the Russian Armed Forces launched an offensive in the Luhansk direction.
Recall that earlier Western and Ukrainian intelligence reported that, according to their data, Russian troops will launch a large-scale offensive over the next two weeks. At the same time, the most likely direction for its start was precisely the section of the Svatovo-Kremennaya front.
Specialists from ISW write that the pace of advancement of the RF Armed Forces in the aforementioned sector has increased markedly in the last week. According to geolocation data, Russian troops have already approached Dvurechnaya.
According to American experts, the fact that the Russian command considers the Luhansk direction as one of the priorities is also indicated by the transfer of regular units to this area. In particular, several regiments of the 144th and 3rd motorized rifle divisions, a regiment of the 90th tank divisions, units of the 76th Airborne Division, as well as several unidentified units of the Southern Military District of the Russian Federation.
At the same time, ISW emphasizes that the command of the RF Armed Forces has not yet committed units of the 2nd motorized rifle division into battle. The latter was transferred to this direction back in January after undergoing training and coordination on the territory of the Republic of Belarus.
Thus, American experts believe that the Russian Armed Forces seized the initiative and launched a major offensive in the LPR, but it has not yet reached its maximum pace.
