Russian Foreign Ministry expands sanctions against US representatives involved in military assistance to Ukraine
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expanded anti-American sanctions by banning 77 US citizens from entering the country. They included the governors of a number of states, heads of federal departments and companies involved in the supply of weapons to the Ukrainian army.
A message posted on the official portal of the Russian Foreign Ministry says that in response to the ongoing expansion by the US authorities of the sanctions list, which includes Russian citizens, 77 US citizens are denied entry to the territory of the Russian Federation.
The Russian Foreign Ministry also stressed that any hostile actions against Russia, including increased sanctions pressure, would receive appropriate opposition and hit the US itself like a boomerang.
The expanded sanctions list includes the governors of the states of Alabama and Massachusetts, as well as a number of American businessmen and high-ranking military and political figures.
It is also reported that the EU heads of state plan to discuss strengthening anti-Russian sanctions, including the possibility of using frozen assets. In addition, the leadership of the EU countries will strengthen control over the possibility of circumventing sanctions by creating companies in third countries in order to supply Russia with sanctioned goods from the European Union.
Since the beginning of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, the EU countries have introduced nine sanctions packages, including a number of financial and trade restrictions.
