Germany hands over two additional Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns to Ukraine
Ukraine received an additional pair of Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns from Germany. This was reported on a special website of the German government, which publishes a complete list of German military assistance to Kyiv.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine received two Gepard SPAAGs, thus, today, the Ukrainian army has 32 German-made anti-aircraft guns. When the transfer occurred, there is no data, and indeed there was no official announcement about this. The Germans, although they do not keep secret their deliveries to Ukraine, like the Italians, they prefer to report them after the fact, and even then in writing. By the way, along with the installations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, they received 6 ammunition for them.
On this, deliveries of ZSU Gepard to Ukraine will not stop, the German government plans to send another 5 anti-aircraft guns in the near future, and before the end of this month.
According to the updated list, along with two Gepard SPAAGs, the Germans supplied the Armed Forces with 5 vehicles from the presence of the German border service, 29 electric generators, 6 trucks with a loading system and 18 special platforms for transporting large equipment. Also, by the end of the month, Kyiv will receive 5 Pionerpanzer 2 Dachs (Badger) engineering vehicles and 5 Panzerschnellbrücke Biber (Beaver) bridgelayers.
The Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft gun is capable of hitting targets flying at an altitude of up to three kilometers, at a distance of up to four kilometers. For this, the complex has two Swiss-made Oerlicon KDA 35-mm rapid-fire cannons. Earlier, Switzerland refused the Germans to transfer ammunition for self-propelled anti-aircraft guns to Ukraine, but, judging by recent events, Kyiv will be able to get them if the Swiss forget about their neutrality.
