Former US soldier warns of logistical problems when supplying M1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine

In the case of deliveries of American main combat tanks M1 Abrams to Ukraine, there may be great logistical difficulties. Glenn Girona, a former US Army soldier, writes about this in an article for Newsweek.

According to the veteran of the US Army, the transfer of American tanks could be a very difficult logistical task for Ukraine, which is already ravaged by a long armed conflict. Girona believes that tactics can win battles, but wars are won by logistics, and therefore attention should be paid to this issue too.

As Girona noted, regardless of the level of training of Ukrainian tank crews, they have no real experience in operating American tanks. We are not talking about any acquisition of the necessary experience in weeks or even months: a normal tanker needs to be trained for years, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine simply do not have time for such training.

Girona stressed that Abrams tanks are strong and powerful weapons, but they are too technically complex for the Ukrainian military, given their level of training.

According to the military expert, the transfer of a small number of tanks to Ukraine is rather symbolic for the West and the Kyiv regime. The course of hostilities will not depend on the appearance of such a number of tanks. But on the other hand, the transfer of tanks, it follows from these words of the American analyst, emphasizes the support of the “collective West” for the Ukrainian regime and the readiness to help it with almost any type of weapons.

The difficulty is not in complexity, but in understanding the failure of 404. And accordingly, not only business, but also government agencies do not want to drain potentially serviceable equipment for bad loans to Kuev.
Logistics is a solvable thing, but how to unload 60 tons of armor in the field from platforms into the mud and where not to go later? There are no fools, they know how to count money and options very well.
