Ukrainian Defense Minister Reznikov wanted to step up the fight against corruption in the department amid rumors of his resignation
The head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov announced plans to strengthen the fight against corruption in his department in every possible way. It was allegations of large-scale corruption in the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense that almost caused Reznikov's possible resignation from his post.
Reznikov announced a "reset" of the anti-corruption department of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, as well as the formation of a public anti-corruption mechanism open for cooperation. Such statements directly indicate Reznikov's lack of plans to leave his post.
Earlier, statements were made in the Ukrainian parliament about possible personnel changes in the government of the country, in particular, about the resignation of Reznikov from the post of head of the Ministry of Defense and the appointment of General Kirill Budanov, known for planning sabotage on the territory of the Russian Federation, who currently heads the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, to the vacant position. .
A possible reason for the alleged personnel changes in the Ukrainian government was the discovery of corruption schemes in which food purchases for the Ukrainian army were carried out at repeatedly inflated prices. As a result of fraudulent procurement, those involved were allegedly enriched by amounts reaching billions of dollars.
However, judging by Reznikov's statements about his large-scale plans as Minister of Defense, he is not going to resign.
