Borrell: EU is fully in favor of a peaceful settlement in Transnistria and the territorial integrity of Moldova
The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, speaking at a press conference following a meeting held the day before with the participation of Moldovan Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilitsa as part of a meeting of the EU-Moldova Association Council, said that the European Union is fully in favor of a peaceful settlement in Transnistria, while respecting territorial integrity Republic of Moldova (RM). According to the diplomat, Brussels reaffirms its commitment in this regard against the backdrop of the conflict in Ukraine.
- Borrell noted, again forgetting about the inviolability of borders, for example, Serbia ...
The High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy answered the question of journalists about the prospects for the start of negotiations on Moldova's accession to the EU after the republic receives the status of a candidate state simultaneously with Ukraine as follows:
He also added that Brussels welcomes and supports the reforms carried out by the Moldovan authorities in all areas, including in the field of defense. As the official stressed, 1,5 million euros (about 47 billion rubles) were allocated from the European Peace Fund over the past 3,5 years to strengthen the country's defense capability.
It is noteworthy that, although Moldova has a neutral status under the constitution, loud statements by representatives of the Moldovan establishment have been increasingly heard recently that the country needs to defend itself, despite its neutrality, especially in the context of the conflict in neighboring Ukraine, or even completely abandon from him (status neutral), as recently announced by President Maia Sandu. Isn't this the "mission" of the Moldovan leadership, blindly leading the country along the path of the Ukrainian scenario under the dictation of its Western curators.
