The Netherlands will finance the repair and supply of German Leopard 1A5 tanks to Ukraine

The Netherlands again declared its support for Ukraine in its fight against "aggressive Russia" and its readiness to support Kyiv financially. The lack of armored vehicles for the transfer of the Ukrainian army does not greatly upset Amsterdam, the Dutch decided to invest money.

The Netherlands announced its readiness to pay for the repair and delivery of the first series Leopard MBT to Ukraine, we are talking about a hundred tanks. In addition to the Netherlands themselves, Germany and Denmark will participate in the delivery. The role of Denmark is a little unclear, she will also sponsor the dispatch of tanks from the presence of Germany, or will nevertheless supply some of her own. Both options are possible.

The Netherlands also promised to train Ukrainian tankers, supply spare parts for tanks and ammunition. This was stated by the head of the military department of the country, Kaisa Ollongren, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wopke Gukstra, speaking in the House of Representatives of the country's parliament.

The war in Ukraine is at a decisive stage. I expect the fighting to intensify in the coming months. (...) there are signs that Russia is preparing a new offensive. That is why the supply of main battle tanks is important. Maintain Ukraine's resilience and improve its position on the battlefield

Ollongren said.

Earlier, the German government gave permission for the supply of Leopard 1 tanks to Rheinmetall and Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft mbH (FFG), which have about 187 heavy armored vehicles for two. These tanks will be restored and transferred to Ukraine, and the Netherlands will sponsor this process, since this is not the first time for them. Earlier, Amsterdam financed the modernization of Soviet T-72 tanks for Kyiv from the presence of the Czech army.

No need to overhaul them! Check that the engine and chassis work somehow - and for recycling to Ukraine! And let the allocated money be better cut ...

even this is not necessary - they repainted it and went to the front line. "into the crucible of destruction" (c)

a maximum of 1-2 combat sorties will survive.

Can anyone explain the meaning of this circus?))) Everyone is well aware that even the Leopard 2 A 4 is not of particular combat value, only the A6 has a real chance of success. What will Leopard 1 do there?

Fight. Leopard 1 will take any tank on board. A hit in the forehead with OF 105mm will send any tank for repairs.
Not to mention lightly armored vehicles and infantry.
With proper application, we will not have small problems. A tank is a tank.

In terms of armor, the Leopard-1 is comparable to the later T-34-85. Anywhere you hit him, guaranteed defeat.

the armor of which modern tank participating in the conflict can withstand 105mm on board? none? what about 125mm? none? Then

and what does it give? besides the fact that in head-on battles Leo-1 will lose the t-72 .. and many Prokhorovkas are planned? taking into account the current application, it’s quite a serious combat vehicle .. and even today, the same t-34 could “make a rustle” in the absence of modern tanks - a tank is a tank

Rather, with the T-55, at least 2 times more effective than the T-34-85

then it would be better if they bought T55 in Africa, and it’s easier to master and about the same, but much cheaper.

The Netherlands will finance the repair and supply of German Leopard 1A5 tanks to Ukraine
As I see it, the Dutch have a clear excess of funds, and even more desire to be in the trend of "fighting Russia."

In the Netherlands, the public is quite sure that it was the Russians who shot down the Malaysian Boeing flying from Amsterdam.

There is a lot of evidence of complex work - it seems that there was also an internal explosion, and this already casts a shadow on the Netherlands.

in the Netherlands, society is not "quite sure", but has before its eyes the decision of the court. At the same time, it is sad, IMHO, if "who needs it" had spent not on one, but on four lawyers, then the case would have been returned to the prosecutor (because of the "excess of the performer"). Or in general, there would have been not one acquitted, but four, and the case would have ended.
And the saddest thing is that the negotiations in Vienna on "closing the issue of MX17 with the help of" ex gratia "" did not succeed. That is, from the point of view of the Dutch, they did "everything and a little more" in order to maintain relations with the Russian Federation, but "something went wrong."

By the way, the decision on the Yukos case is “on the way” in the Dutch court, which will be issued to Mikhail Kh. by the “largest check” to the Russian Federation: somewhere around 50-60 billion USD.

I want to note that these tanks are no more scrap metal than the same T-72s. And talk about tank battles and shells on board is complete nonsense. If we take, say, the same t-55 and put a long-range gun on it. Modern guidance systems and a good Kaz, he will not yield to either the T-90 or Abrams. As the hero of one famous film says, "the main thing is what is under his hood"

In terms of armor, the Leo-1 is approximately equivalent to the T-62 (which are fighting in Ukraine).
But in terms of accuracy, the gun is much superior. He has L7 - the all-time record holder for accuracy / range among tank guns.

Absolutely true statement. Yes, at least the museum T-III and T-IV will be installed, and they know how to shoot. BMPs are fighting on both sides. Though cardboard ... So hat-taking is completely inappropriate here.
