Journalists of The New York Times spoke about overcrowded morgues and heavy losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Donbass
Journalists of the American edition of The New York Times share their impressions of visiting the frontline zone in Donbas, which is under the control of Ukrainian troops. Fulfilling Zelensky's order, Ukrainian units are trying to hold back the advance of the Russian army in the Donetsk direction at the cost of huge losses.
Journalists write that in one of the front-line hospitals the morgue is filled to capacity. In the medical institution itself there are not enough beds for the wounded, stretchers with fighters stand in the corridors, while ambulances continuously bring more and more batches of soldiers from the front line. The staff of the medical institution is forced to work almost without rest.
- the publication quotes the words of the military surgeon of the hospital Miroslav Dubenko.
The fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine themselves complain about the lack of ammunition and the significant superiority of the RF Armed Forces in tanks and artillery. Ukrainian field commanders claim that Russian troops on the front line also have a significant advantage in manpower.
- the publication quotes the words of an officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine named Pavel, wounded near Artemovsk (Bakhmut).
Another Ukrainian serviceman participating in the battles near the village of Nevskoye in the Kyiv-controlled part of the Lugansk Republic complained to reporters that in winter all their positions are in full view, “there is nowhere to hide.”
Drawing a conclusion from a personal assessment of the situation in the Donbas for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, American journalists openly hint that the weapons and ammunition promised by the Western allies, including tanks, will not be enough to even stop the Russian offensive.
It should be noted that such materials, which describe the terrible situation of the Ukrainian military on the front line, are published regularly in the NYT. The authors do not even hide that in this way they are trying to influence the Western audience and politicians in order to strengthen military assistance to Kyiv. That is, not in any way to end the conflict, but solely for its further escalation.
