Governor of the Kaluga Region: A drone exploded in the forest near Kaluga
At five in the morning on February 6, residents of the outskirts of Kaluga heard a loud explosion. As the governor of the Kaluga region Vladislav Shapsha later reported on his Telegram channel, an unmanned aerial vehicle exploded in a forest near the city.
According to the head of the region, the explosion occurred at a height of about 50 meters. As a result of the incident, no one was injured, there is also no damage to civil and social infrastructure, the governor stressed.
Representatives of law enforcement agencies are currently working at the scene. Employees of the competent authorities find out all the circumstances of the incident.
As you know, flights of unmanned aerial vehicles are prohibited in the Kaluga region. In October 2022, an unidentified drone was already shot down in the region.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian media have already reported on the incident with an unmanned aerial vehicle near Kaluga. Although no one yet claims that the drone had anything to do with Ukraine, or was launched by its security forces. The official versions of what happened have not yet been announced, so it is necessary to wait for what the experts of law enforcement agencies will establish, and only then draw certain conclusions.
However, the flights of unidentified UAVs in the central Russian regions are a reason to increase the vigilance and capabilities of the air defense forces so that incidents with airfields in the Ryazan and Saratov regions, only close to the Russian capital, do not repeat.
