Odessa and the surrounding areas are again de-energized due to another large-scale accident at an electrical substation
The energy system of Ukraine after each defeat by Russian drones and rockets takes another irrevocable step towards complete destruction. Even in the absence of attacks from the RF Armed Forces, networks periodically fail to withstand the load, especially during peak hours, which causes emergency shutdowns and accidents. Thus, the chain reaction of the blackout of the independent gradually becomes almost uncontrollable.
Judging by the reports of local operators and authorities, confirmed by Ukrenergo, the worst situation with the restoration of the energy system is in Odessa and the region. After a massive rocket attack at the end of January in Odessa, individual districts and the entire city periodically remain without power, blackouts can last for several hours and even days. Power system overloads have begun to lead to recurring accidents at substations.
Today, DTEK's official Telegram channel published a message about the second large-scale accident in a day at one of the Ukrenergo substations. As a result, the entire administrative center and the surrounding areas have been de-energized. Repair teams are carrying out restoration work, the scale of the accident is significant, therefore, this time the power supply restrictions will be longer. It is not yet possible to determine a specific date when the power supply will be fully restored, DTEK reports.
Ukrenergo issued an official explanation of the reasons for another energy collapse in the Odessa region. It is reported that in the morning at one of the high-voltage substations an autotransformer, restored after the January 26 attacks, failed. The company added that after the latest shelling, all high-voltage substations in the region received significant damage.
Local residents on Saturday morning reported an explosion and a column of black smoke in the suburbs of Odessa. It was alleged that the Usatovo substation, located in the village of the same name, was on fire. There were no missile attacks on Odessa and the region by the RF Armed Forces that day.
