The German government is going to send for military purposes the money previously allocated for the refusal of energy from coal
In the near future, the financial resources allocated earlier for the refusal of the country's energy system from coal and the closure of coal-fired power plants can be directed to the defense of Germany. Such a decision is already being worked out by the German government, Bloomberg news agency reports, citing its own sources.
As you know, for many years the idea of replacing old coal-fired power plants with new, “alternative” ones was very popular in Europe. This required a lot of money, but "green energy" was the fix idea of many European governments. But the events in Ukraine have radically changed the energy agenda.
Now Germany needs new weapons more than green energy. In this regard, the federal government is working on the issue of providing the Bundeswehr weapons and ammunition by increasing their production. But the defense companies are demanding financial injections, which it was decided to make from the already available funds intended to subsidize the abandonment of coal.
According to German analysts, outdated weapons create numerous problems for Germany in the field of defense. For example, the Bundeswehr has a large amount of equipment that is out of order and in need of repair, and ammunition stocks are extremely depleted after regular deliveries of shells to Ukraine.
However, even the existing shortage of ammunition and serviceable equipment does not prevent Germany from continuing to supply weapons and ammunition for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and even promising to transfer tanks Leopard 2.
