The Pentagon announced the discovery of another Chinese balloon, now south of the United States
The US military department reports the discovery of another Chinese balloon. Recall that the day before, footage appeared with a balloon that was moving at an altitude of more than 20 km in the sky over the United States, namely over the state of Missouri, where the base of strategic bombers is located. At first it was reported that the shadow from the ISS was on the frames, then it was stated that these were the object's own solar panels, which, through communication with satellites, transmits information about the sounding of the earth's surface to the operator.
China admitted that the object belongs to them, but stated that it had nothing to do with intelligence activities. It was pointed out that this was a weather balloon, which, in bad weather and strong winds, was "carried away in an unknown direction." In the United States, these statements by Beijing were not believed, but the White House, as it later became known, ordered the Pentagon not to shoot down the balloon. It was noted that "this may carry risks for people on the ground."
Now Pentagon Secretary Patrick Ryder said that tracking devices have detected another similar object, but already over Latin America.
Rider:
According to a Pentagon official, the "intelligence facility" passes south of the American borders.
Over which countries this flight takes place, he did not specify. If we are talking about the direction south of the US borders, then we are probably talking about Mexico or other Central American countries.
So-called hawks, especially Republicans, have criticized Biden's reluctance to shoot down a Chinese balloon, saying it once again demonstrates that the US has "surrendered to a rising enemy." The network caustically commented on the situation, noting that while Chinese reconnaissance vehicles are flying over the United States, Biden is again thinking about what else weapon put Ukraine.
