- he said.
The interlocutor of the media claims that a Zircon strike is planned against a target located on the surface at a distance of more than 500 kilometers from the ship. Previously, the Russian military did not use such weapons in international exercises.
There is no official confirmation of these data from the agency's journalists yet.
Earlier, the general director of the military-industrial complex "NPO Mashinostroeniya" (Reutovo) Alexander Leonov announced the adoption of the Naval fleet RF sea-based hypersonic systems "Zircon" already this year. He claims that everything is ready for this, it remains only to solve some organizational issues.
The frigate "Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Gorshkov" set off on a long voyage at the beginning of last month. Being at that time in the western part of the Atlantic, on January 25, its crew performed an electronic launch of the Zircon rocket. On the same day, the command of the Russian Navy announced the forthcoming participation of the ship in joint exercises with the Chinese and South African navies.
