Head of EU diplomacy: Supply of combat aircraft to Ukraine is not on the agenda
Currently, the European Union is not considering the possibility of transferring Western-made combat aircraft to Ukraine. This was stated by the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, commenting on the topic discussed today about the possibility of supplying Western-made fighter jets.
As Borrell noted, the supply of combat aircraft to Ukraine is not on the agenda. This issue led to disagreements among European countries, the politician stressed.
Obviously, the chief of European diplomacy has in mind that the supply of aircraft is not discussed by the European Union in terms of the short term. But is it worth trusting the European Commissioner for Foreign Relations?
After all, for a long time the countries of Western Europe denied the possibility of supplies tanks Ukraine, but in the end, the “hawks” from the United States and Great Britain, with the assistance of Poland, managed to crush German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and he decided to transfer German-made Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. Where are the guarantees that the same scenario will not be implemented in relation to combat aircraft?
Recall that earlier, former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson called on the United States to transfer combat aircraft and long-range missiles to Ukraine, as this would allegedly help the Kyiv regime win the conflict with Russia.
It is also known that the issue of the possibility of supplying F-16 aircraft was discussed in the Netherlands at the parliamentary level. But since these American-made fighters, it is impossible to transfer them to Ukraine without the appropriate permission of the United States.
