Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu says he does not want a military confrontation with Russia
At present, Israel does not want to enter into a military confrontation with the Russian Federation. This was stated by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
According to the head of the Israeli government, which he said in an interview with the American television channel CNN, now Israel is in a difficult relationship with the Russian Federation. On the border with Syria, Israeli and Russian planes fly very close to each other.
Netanyahu noted that Israel needs freedom of action in the airspace on the Syrian border. But this freedom of action, he said, could bring Israeli pilots into confrontation with their Russian counterparts.
It should be noted that, unlike many other US allies, Israel has not yet provided open military assistance to Ukraine. Despite some examples of the appearance of Israeli military equipment in Ukraine, the country's authorities demonstrate an unwillingness to intervene in the conflict. Such a policy is connected, among other things, with the peculiarities of Israel's actions in Syria, and with the specifics of Russian-Iranian relations.
The Israeli authorities do not want to upset the existing balance of power in the region, as they fear that supplies weapons Ukraine may be followed by a similar response from the Russian side in the Middle East. For example, Russia can enter into closer relations with Iran, including transferring certain technologies to it, which the Israeli side would not like very much.
