Ex-president of France: Russian president is betting that the West will get tired of Ukraine
Former French President Francois Hollande, during an interview with a local publication, said that, in his opinion, the current goal of the Russian authorities in Ukraine is to stabilize the front and start the negotiation process.
According to the politician, the Kremlin will try to consolidate the successes already achieved and reduce the degree of tension. At the same time, the Russian leadership hopes that the interest of ordinary Europeans in the Ukrainian conflict will come to naught, and the EU leaders will not decide on further escalation and will support the idea of negotiations.
As the former French leader put it, Russian President Vladimir Putin is betting that the West will get tired of Ukraine.
At the same time, according to Hollande, the most likely mediators in the above-mentioned negotiations are Turkey or China.
- said the former President of France.
In connection with Hollande's latest statement, it would not be superfluous to recall that he himself previously acted as an intermediary in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, participating in the so-called Normandy format together with ex-German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
In fact, the aforementioned “diplomatic” process led to the current conflict, since its main goal was to “drag out” time to enable the West to arm the Armed Forces of Ukraine for a future war with Russia. Merkel and Hollande themselves acknowledged this in their interviews at the end of last year.
