The British government has promised Kyiv to train up to 40 troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The UK is expanding the training program for Ukrainian military personnel, promising to train up to 40 new recruits of the Armed Forces of Ukraine this year. This was announced by the representative of the British Prime Minister Rishi Sunaka.
Last year, Britain, as part of its "breakthrough" training program proposed by Boris Johnson, trained 10 troops for the Ukrainian army, whom Kyiv planned to use in a new offensive. However, the events in Artemovsk (Bakhmut) and Soledar, where attack aircraft of the PMC "Wagner" literally crushed units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, forced the Ukrainian General Staff to leave them as reserves to plug holes in the defense. Naturally, this did not end well for them, the "elite" units trained by the British were partially destroyed, partially fled to the rear, and some were captured, telling a lot of interesting things about the training program.
The West is in a hurry, fearing not to be in time for a possible offensive by the Russian army. Hence the supply of armored vehicles, including Tanks, various training programs for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in general, everything that can help Kyiv repel an attack and, as they say in Washington and Brussels, go over to offensive actions in order to "liberate" the territory of Ukraine.
At the end of last year, the UK Ministry of Defense promised to train about 2023 soldiers for the Ukrainian army in 20. But, apparently, Kyiv's appetites are growing, Zelensky no longer has enough trained military personnel, and the war cannot be won by mobilized recruits alone. Hence the plans to increase the number of trained dryers as much as twice to 40.
It is worth noting that the British program is not the only one; the Armed Forces of Ukraine are being trained in Poland and Germany as part of the European training mission. There are also numerous training programs in individual countries, but they are much smaller.
