Actually, it was he - "Admiral Golovko" who was declared as the first of the frigates of this series with regular "Zircons" on board. But ... life forced, and now the lead "Gorshkov" has become the first such carrier. And this means that "Kasatonov" will soon put the "Zircons" into service.
But I did not expect such a agility in terms of the pace of delivery of "Golovko" after the first exit to the sea. So the GEM is really a success. And this already means that all the other frigates of this series will surrender rhythmically and the ordeals with the "engine curse" for these ships will end.

Somehow the figures given are not at all impressive. The maximum stroke of 29 knots is not the 21st century at all, to put it mildly. And one more thing: a frigate in 8 years? The Chinese make a destroyer in a year.

Yes, for a long time. But the Chinese have everything to build a fleet. And we, as usual, have to overcome difficulties. Often created by ourselves.

Their people are wiser, it’s hard to imagine that they could create so many difficulties for themselves like we do.

Do you know that since 2014 Ukraine has refused to supply its offshore turbines to us?
Do you know that a ship installation is not only a corrosion-resistant gas turbine engine, but also a diesel engine with a gearbox?
It is very good to create and bring to the GTE series in 6 years. Honor and praise to our engine engineers.
Now they have the task of increasing the resource of the ship's installation and there will be complete order.

I really want to compare the Russian and Ukrainian installations. It seems to me that Ukrainians have already begun to harm engines since the 70s.
The Russian gas turbine and gearbox should be more reliable, although you need to watch them in action. This is just a guess.

Nikolaev "Zarya-Mashproekt" is one of the flagships of the world ship engine building. The USSR was the first in the world (formerly the USA!) Switched to gas turbine power plants for the Navy. Not only did the huge Soviet Navy go entirely to the Nikolaev gas turbines, but now both the Chinese and Indian fleets go to its gas turbines. And although China has been trying to make the power plant itself for the last decade (a little more), but all this production, the entire technical process, all the technologies and licenses, they received from Nikolaev, Nikolaev engineers set up and launched production for China, and until the very beginning of the SVO supplied China with the most critical components, for their domestic (licensed) gas turbines.
"Zarya-Mashproekt" - the pearl of the Soviet and world industry. Similar industries in the world can be counted on the fingers of one hand.
So think about what and with what you are going to compare. If Russia had such a production, or duplicated it at home in the early 00s, Russia would now have a fleet that is cooler and more numerous than all the combined fleets of NATO without the United States.
And it's a pity that our ingenious handicraft failed to take Nikolaev in the first spurt. For there are not only our famous shipyards, where Soviet aircraft carriers and cruisers were built, but also the most unique enterprise Zarya-Mashproekt. Look at their (pre-war) price list with a choice of gas turbines and power plants, both running and power plants. On such turbines, even an aircraft carrier is built (the Chinese are building their aircraft carriers on THEIR turbines), even a cruiser, even a frigate, even a corvette. And the travel gears ... often SUCH intricate ... that the current "kulibins" do not even dare to think about such.
The best solution is to take Nikolaev and use the potential of its enterprises to revive the domestic Fleet.

No GTU is Ukrainian. Soviet still development. Production simply remained on the territory of Ukraine. And in the 70s, not Ukrainian, but Soviet specialists were engaged in engine building.

And what prevented us from ruining our production of marine engines? For example, I worked at BMZ, where marine engines were produced until the 90s. But then all production was closed

And who, compared to 22350, is impressive? ))) Against the background of Golovko with Zircons, all other Western frigates / destroyers / cruisers are just rubbish.

There are more than one and a half billion Chinese people !!! Warm seas, where you can safely work at shipyards all year round in the open air ... China was not torn into small pieces, like the USSR. Where the main shipbuilding and machine-building enterprises remained outside of Russia. On all sorts of Jewish Ukrainians and Kazakhstans ...

Look at the speed of frigates in other countries. Europeans and promising for the USA have 27 knots. Chinese Type. 054A - 28 knots. And "Gorshkov" has 29,5 knots. I think that "Golovko" will not have less - with a full VI of 5400 tons, the power of its afterburner turbines is 27 x 500 = 2 l / s. With an optimal hull configuration, it would have given 55 knots, but its contours and a very dimensional fairing of the HAC eat up a fair amount of this power to the resistance of the environment.

And one more thing: a frigate in 8 years?

I could have stood all 12 on the slipway or against the wall without an engine.
Frigates of the 11356 series (for the Black Sea Fleet) were built from laying to delivery no more than 3,5 years. Just a proven technical process and cooperation, as well as the availability of all the necessary components.
Now there are 5 more such ships on the stocks. And they are already receiving their power plants. So from now on, the ships of this series will be built no more than 4 - 4,5 years. And at the Amur Shipyard too.

      Never.
Even frigates Type. 054A spent a little more than a year on the slipway, and the overall construction cycle from laying to handing over to the customer took at least 2,5 years. And these are very good paces . Despite the fact that these ships were built in a large series - about three dozen.
And in a year they will only weld the hull of a serial destroyer (and not Type 055, but Type 052D which is much smaller) on a slipway and launch it. And the pre-construction period usually lasts 30-50% longer than the slipway. With large-scale in-line production - as in China.

Most likely the maximum possible stroke is more than 30 knots. It's just that there are limiters in the management of the State Duma. On the first hull of project 11540 "Fearless" during sea trials, the ship easily gave well for 30 knots, but the TTX indicated a full speed of 30 knots.

faiver (Andrey), dear, in my opinion, I can be wrong, the wise personnel policy of the party, on the emblem of which is a brown bear after epilation. Former "Chief Engineer" of "Northern Shipyard" Andrey Shestakov was going to appeal the verdict. There will be a desire to read the material "Abuse" dated January 25, 2023 on the website "Echo of the North".
