Institute for the Study of War: Delays in the supply of Western weapons were the main reason for the failure of the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The West needs to provide Ukraine with all the necessary weapons as soon as possible so that the Armed Forces of Ukraine can go on the offensive and turn the tide. Delivery delays weapons and techniques will lead to the prolongation of the conflict indefinitely, writes the so-called American "Institute for the Study of War" (ISW).
American analysts have come to the conclusion that it was precisely the delay in the supply of Western weapons that was the main reason that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have not yet defeated the Russian army. According to ISW, the lack of the necessary weapons and equipment several times disrupted the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian army, and, accordingly, the liberation of the "captured territories."
The Institute blames Western countries for delaying the process of rearmament of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with NATO weapons. The lack of "advanced" weapons and the depletion of Soviet stocks in the Ukrainian army disrupted Kyiv's plans to strike a decisive blow at a time when the Russian army's offensive "stalled". And this gave the command of the Russian Armed Forces time to regroup forces and now the Armed Forces have to "break into" the Russian defenses in order to win a final victory.
writes ISW.
Another factor in the fact that Russia was able to "partially" seize the initiative was the erroneous decisions of the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In general, if the West had been more actively re-equipping the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the Ukrainian General Staff had taken the "correct" decisions, then the Russian army would have already been defeated. So the United States and NATO need to step up their efforts and quickly provide Kyiv with everything necessary to launch a new offensive.
