Minister of Defense of Ukraine: We will start using Western tanks at the front, probably in the spring
According to the head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov, NATO Tanks will take part in hostilities in Ukraine, most likely in the spring. The minister said this yesterday during an interview he gave to the Canadian CBC television channel.
Reznikov noted.
The Minister of Defense of Ukraine also explained that these tanks will be used to "continue the counteroffensive" (but it is not entirely clear what kind of continuation of the counteroffensive in question). He also added that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will try to form at least two tank battalions from the tanks supplied by the West. In addition, Reznikov is confident that this batch of tanks will only be the beginning, and henceforth the West will continue to supply them to Ukraine.
Said the Minister.
Recall that this month already many EU countries, as well as the United States, promised to send tanks to Ukraine. Thus, Washington intends to supply Kyiv with the main battle tank of the US Army M1 Abrams in the amount of 31 units, and Berlin is ready to transfer 14 Leopard 2A6 tanks to Ukraine as part of the so-called first package. In addition, the German authorities are ready to issue permits for the re-export of German-made tanks to other countries, which Warsaw especially sought.
It remains to be hoped that most of these tanks will not reach the front and will be destroyed by the Russian Armed Forces during transportation to their destination. Otherwise, the entire burden of combat work to destroy them will fall on the shoulders of our guys on the front line.
