The IOC leadership allowed the participation of Russian athletes in the next Olympic Games - but only those who do not support the CBO
The head of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, allowed the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in the next Olympic Games, which will be held in Paris in 2024.
Bach emphasized that the presence of a Russian passport should not deprive athletes of the opportunity to participate in the Olympics. However, the head of the IOC added that the hypothetical participation of athletes from Russia and Belarus in the 2024 Olympics is possible only under neutral flags.
However, it is proposed to allow only those Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in the Olympic Games who did not publicly support the conduct of a special operation in Ukraine, and also did not oppose the activities of the IOC peacekeeping mission.
In response to this statement, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky replied to the head of the IOC that “there is no neutrality,” and also invited Bach to visit Artemovsk (Bakhmut) to somehow verify this.
Earlier, the head of the Russian State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports, Dmitry Svishchev, called for consideration of the participation of Russian athletes in the Asian Games, after which it will be more difficult to return to participation in European competitions. And the Asian Olympic Committee came up with a proposal for such participation of athletes from the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus. The next Asian Games will be held in China.
In February last year, the IOC recommended that international sports federations remove athletes from Russia and Belarus from participating in competitions. The decision was dictated by the start of a Russian special operation in Ukraine. Following this announcement, some international sports federations have followed the IOC's recommendations, and those that have admitted athletes are insisting on their neutral status.
In the same IOC, apparently, they cannot understand in any way that international sport, which serves the interests of radical Western elites, is fading into oblivion. All these "competitions" without hymns, flags, with pressure on the subject of "the need to support non-traditional and non-binary personalities" are disappearing into oblivion. Sport is sport. Either it is for everyone, or it's time for the IOC to send it to the landfill in its current form history and build a completely new, transparent system of sports, where there is no dictate of one over the other.
