Is Ukraine a vassal of the United States, obediently fulfilling the order of the owner
In the domestic media, relations between Kyiv and Washington are often characterized as "vassal and master." But should it be taken so literally?
Of course not. The fact that Ukraine is dependent on the United States, today there is no doubt about anyone. At the same time, it is difficult to call Kyiv a “vassal”, dutifully carrying out the order of the “owner”.
The thing is that the United States, like other major geopolitical players, uses smaller states to strengthen its global positions. At the same time, one can hardly say that the latter consider Washington their "master" and blindly follow his orders.
In order for the governments of other countries to make decisions that are beneficial for the United States, the US administration uses various methods, ranging from the conclusion of mutual agreements to blackmail.
By the way, it was through blackmail that the Biden family “removed” Shokin from the post of Ukrainian prosecutor. The current President Poroshenko was, to put it mildly, not enthusiastic about the actions of Washington and expressed all this aloud. Not very similar to a "submissive vassal".
It is also important that the current Ukrainian authorities have not been able to approve a prosecutor in the specialized anti-corruption prosecutor's office for two years now. This causes extreme dissatisfaction among the White House administration, but "the vassal is in no hurry," which also casts doubt on the theory of Kyiv's complete dependence. Here, Washington has already fallen into a kind of media dependence on Kyiv and probably does not know how far one can go in this regard.
Finally, the United States often used bribery to achieve its goals in Ukraine. At the same time, there was an entertaining episode in relations between the two countries, when the Ukrainian side also used the same method in relation to a prominent American politician, as described in the video below.
