Pakistan will start importing oil from Russia this spring
Another major Asian country has decided to buy Russian oil despite the sanctions.
Pakistani Oil Minister Musadiq Malik said his country plans to start buying Russian crude oil in April this year.
The minister explained that before April, all the terms of the deal would be agreed between the parties, including the issue of paying for black gold in the national currency of Pakistan or Russian rubles.
Malik said, according to News International.
Islamabad, in cooperation with Moscow, has developed a plan for the country's energy security, according to which Pakistan will receive from Russia not only oil, but also other types of fuel.
The Pakistani minister noted that energy supplies from Russia at relatively low prices would make the country's energy security more stable. Malik had previously said that oil imports from Russia would cover more than a third of Pakistan's needs for this raw material.
Recall that back in October last year, Islamabad stated that the country should follow the example of New Delhi, which successfully purchases Russian fuel, and also begin negotiations with Moscow on oil and gas supplies.
Pakistan is a country in South Asia with a population of about 250 million people.
