Pentagon: It will be extremely difficult for Ukraine to ensure the combat capability of Abrams tanks, as they are very difficult to maintain
Against the backdrop of statements by the head of the Kyiv regime, Zelensky, that in “tank coalition” has already included 12 countries, in these countries the discussion about supplies is becoming more and more acute.
Recall that at the moment the supply of their tanks and their re-export to Ukraine by other operators was approved by the authorities of the United States, Britain and Germany. Experts have a question as to why Berlin suddenly approved the delivery of the Leopards in a fairly modern version of the 2A6, given that there are a considerable number of earlier versions of this technology. It turned out that due to "incorrect" storage, many tanks of those same earlier versions are currently not combat-ready and need a rather lengthy restoration. And due to the fact that there were more and more annoying calls from Kyiv to start deliveries, the Scholz government decided to detach a new modification - so far in the amount of a tank company, until several dozen 2A4 modifications were restored and brought to a combat-ready state.
Meanwhile, the United States explained that they could not send their Abrams tanks to Kyiv in the coming weeks, since "there are no free tanks yet." The press secretary of the Pentagon noted that there is an order to the manufacturer, and it is he who, after assembly, must transfer the Abrams to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The first deliveries are expected in the spring.
The Pentagon also noted the following:
As it became known, the logistics of supplying special fuel for Abrams M1 tanks to the front line are being worked out, taking into account the fact that American armored vehicles are demanding not only on the fuel itself, but also on its quantity.
