The President of the Russian Federation summed up the results of 2022 at the informal CIS summit
Today, on December 26, an informal meeting of the leaders of the CIS countries took place in St. Petersburg. During the summit, issues of cooperation within the Commonwealth and plans for the future were discussed.
In addition, Russian President Vladimir Putin summed up the preliminary results of the outgoing year, noting the most important aspects related to the association.
In particular, according to the Russian leader, cooperation between the CIS countries in 2022 can be called very successful. The trade turnover between the states of the Commonwealth, according to preliminary data, may reach 100 billion dollars.
At the same time, Vladimir Putin stressed that the international situation continues to escalate, and in connection with this, new challenges are emerging. That is why, according to the President of the Russian Federation, the countries of the union need to deepen their cooperation, including in the field of security.
Speaking of the latter, the Russian leader noted that all this year the special services of the CIS countries maintained close contacts with each other.
Meanwhile, according to Vladimir Putin, contradictions still arise among the member states of the union. However, the president emphasized that the leaders of the CIS countries are ready to solve problematic issues together, supporting each other and providing comradely and mediatory assistance.
Regarding plans for the future, the Russian leader said that at the moment serious prospects for the commonwealth are opening up along with the reorientation of our exports by our country. In this regard, the arrangement of logistics trans-Eurasian corridors "East-West" and "North-South" is of particular relevance.
