By the 60s in the Soviet Army there were three types tanks - light, medium and heavy. In 1966, the T-64 was adopted. In terms of maneuverability, it was a medium tank, and its armor and weapons were not inferior to heavy ones. As a result, the classification of tanks by mass was abandoned.
