The prime ministers of the Baltic countries, showering each other with courtesies, discussed energy independence from Russia

Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte attends a meeting of the Baltic Council of Ministers in Riga, where she is together with Latvian Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins and Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas. They talked about increasing defense funding, helping Ukraine, and the importance of self-sufficiency in gas and electricity.

The prime ministers talked a lot about the energy and physical security of countries, about how important it is to be independent of Russia's energy resources. When asked about the Klaipeda liquefied gas terminal and whether it would be able to supply gas to the entire region, the Lithuanian Prime Minister said that although it was not built for this, it would do its job.

In our opinion, when setting priorities, this terminal should become an important factor in providing gas to all the Baltic countries. The priority, of course, is the energy security of the region, energy independence from Russia, and this is taken into account when distributing capacities. We do our best to ensure that the terminal serves the energy security of the region in the best possible way.

- said Ingrida Simonyte.

The Estonian prime minister said that the synchronization of the Baltic states with European power grids and the disconnection from the post-Soviet electricity ring (BRELL), which is scheduled to be completed in 2025, is still partly missing technical elements.

We are taking some measures to be technically ready, but there are still a number of elements that are still missing.

- said the head of the Estonian government.

Until now, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, together with Russia and Belarus, work in the IPS / UPS system, or the BRELL ring, where the frequency is centrally regulated in Russia. The Baltic States have agreed to join the continental European networks by the end of 2025.

In addition, the Baltic states have agreed to increase defense funding to 3 percent of GDP, but plan to do so at different times.

We will increase investment in defense, moving towards 3 percent. Each country has its own GDP

- said Prime Minister of Latvia Krisjanis Karins.

However, the head of the Latvian government did not specify how Riga would be able to reach such a level of funding. Now Latvia spends 2,2 percent on defense. GDP.

Speaking with one voice in Riga, the prime ministers of the three Baltic countries acknowledged that their cooperation has always been close since its inception in 1994, but now the countries are almost speaking with one voice. At the same time, attention was drawn to how the Baltic neighbors showered each other with courtesies, using every opportunity to accuse Russia of something.

I already know what element you are missing. It is called - Russian Geranium.

Let them make fun, but in fact their knees are trembling, because they understand that if Russia wants, the West will hand them over.

It is high time, for their vile behavior, to disconnect them from our power system. And let them discuss their energy independence for real. Jackals.

As far as I remember, they should have oil shale. Talking about energy security, depending on external supplies! Idiocy. LNG plants tend to break down at the most inopportune moment. don’t believe it, mosquitoes! At least some sense was from these bloodsuckers. And the Klaipeda terminal is tied to Norway. There are no mosquitoes in winter, but there are white “flies”, and the wind can be under 40m / s with “flies”. not stop?

And how do they work in Qatar? In the north, heat exchangers are simply smaller and energy costs for liquefaction are also lower.

Well, yes, the question rests on the cost price. Qatari gas is objectively more expensive, I think it is significant.

      Talk about energy security

Everyone talks only about some kind of "independence", although in reality it is only about dependence on one or the other.
The most important thing is still silent about what the economy will be like at SUCH prices. And how much will these 3% be if the economy goes negative.

    Self-sufficiency of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia...
When the discord began in 91-93, three vacuum cleaners from the LLE, neighboring Russia, very quickly raised their rating of non-ferrous metal supplier countries. Now they are looking for a way to become independent.
But, as states, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia have been independent for a long time.
Why convene a congress of LLE representatives now? You have your own economy. No one is flagging you.
Do you want to develop a mold of energy or not use scary nuclear power plants? So no one, either from the West or from the East, forces.
Ouch! This phone is about mold.
I wanted to write about green energy.

They don't even need to ask us to help decommunize.
They've been quite successful on their own.
But the only inconvenience for us is the presence of US troops on their territory. This will give them a false confidence in the lack of jurisdiction. But history usually judges.
And the people there will soon grow old. They will be begging all over the world, but there are no resources to mean something to the owners.

said the head of the Estonian government.

    Estonian Prime Minister Kaya Kallas.
"Then we had nothing, we had no choice, there was nothing even in stores ... When there were no sweets, we ate sour cream with sugar. It was the most pleasant thing we could get, so I remember those days" , - said Kaia Kallas in an interview with the Financial Times.
And her father worked for 27 years as a financial specialist in the Ministry of Finance of the Estonian SSR, then Papa Kallas served as director of the Estonian branch of the state Sberbank of the USSR. And just before perestroika, he was the chairman of the Central Union of Trade Unions of Estonia.
And if you consider that dad was also a people's deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR from the Estonian SSR, then there was enough money not only for sweets.
I myself live in Estonia when Kaya was not yet born.

I'm no expert, but here's what I thought. Even these countries have a renewable energy source. Aspen! It grows fast and can be used to make wood pellets. The beauty! And disconnect from BRELL ahead of schedule! And there are places for growing aspen! I looked on the omniscient internet. There are places in Lithuania where the population density is less than in the Sahara. And the population of "tigers" in the Baltics is decreasing. I ask knowledgeable people to evaluate my idea.

You should carefully read the "omniscient Internet" then you would know that not everything is so bad with energy in the Baltic states. And in Estonia, electricity is one of the cheapest in Europe. In Soviet times, everything was well thought out there and the largest power plant on slates is located in Estonia. a renewable energy source, if inferior to coal, is not much, but far superior in environmental friendliness.

So that's exactly what I'm talking about. I'm not talking about the fact that pellets are low-energy, but that they can be used. Aspen, pellets. We have a boiler room that heats our house on them. The temperature in the apartment is now +25. On the street -5. You did not understand. I mean that in these countries there are areas that are not used for growing crops. Sow them with aspen. And the population is declining, ie. less heat needed. I only looked on the Internet about population density, re-read it carefully. But what about the industry?

Let them not buy gas and oil from Russia, it will come in handy for us.

The Balts had three masters. The first one did not let him into the house, he kept him in a barn. The second, having let him out of the barn, allowed him to run around the yard and sometimes go into the house, his descendant put him at the table, began to respect him above himself, but let the pig at the table, she and her feet on the table. The third, putting his feet next to him on the table, and feeding him began to prepare them for the slaughter. When he began to squeal, sooner or later he would end up with jellied meat or shish kebab. Our grandchildren will pass the Balts through history as the Prussians. There was such a people, but disappeared.

      2022 year.
Estonia - about 2,35 percent of GDP. This is about 770 million euros.
Plans for 2023-26, military purchases for about 3,8 billion euros.
Latvia - 2,2 percent from GDP - about 759 million euros. By 2025 there should be 2,5 percent.
Lithuania - 2,52 percent from GDP - 1,5 billion euros.

I think the "airplane" is coming out.
