Chinese Foreign Ministry: It's time for America to stop trying to play the role of world policeman

It's time for America to stop trying to play the role of "world policeman" by dictating conditions to the world and imposing sanctions as they please, according to Chinese foreign policy spokesman Mao Ning. A representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry said this at a briefing today, saying that Washington is considering the possibility of imposing new sanctions against Beijing and Moscow.

The United States does not have the right to impose sanctions on other countries at its discretion and play the role of world policeman

- said Mao Ning, adding that this is contrary to the charter of the UN, the WTO and any other generally recognized international organization.

She also noted that China will take strong measures to protect its rights and interests. At the same time, the diplomat stressed that China opposes interference in the internal affairs of other countries, covering it up with attempts to protect human rights.

Washington often tries to put pressure on China, justifying its actions with concern for human rights, especially in relation to such regions of China as Tibet, the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region or Taiwan, which Beijing considers an integral part of China.

Recall that US-China relations have remained tense since early August this year, when US Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives, made a provocative visit to the island of Taiwan. True, since 2023, Pelosi has already ceased to be a speaker, but this is unlikely to improve relations between Beijing and Washington in general.

And then what?) They will express concern, whom did they remind me of?

The Chinese have certain leverage other than to "express concern".

The West trembled from such statements ... from laughter. Remember the situation with Taiwan? Nobody is afraid of cowards and weaklings.

China is neither one nor the other.
It's just not in a hurry to beat itself with a heel in the chest and brandish economic and power clubs.

. Well, yes, they spoke out, one might say, they expressed concern.
The work of any Foreign Ministry is like this.
However, real things are being done ... without loud statements, as a rule.

They do not play the role of a gendarme, their goals are purely utilitarian, to fan the fire and, on the sly, while the house is on fire, steal the neighbor's junk. And so for many years.

The Chinese, of course, well done
But no one will give guarantees that, as in 1984, two countries (the US and China) will not unite against a third. Yes, we are not pulling to be the third, to be honest.
