The first photos of the S-125 "Newa SC" air defense systems transferred by Poland to Ukraine appeared on Ukrainian Internet resources
Poland handed over to Ukraine modernized Soviet anti-aircraft missile systems S-124 "Newa SC" (Cyfrowy System - digital system) on the chassis tank T-55. The first photos of these air defense systems have already appeared on Ukrainian Internet resources.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine received an unnamed number of S-125 "Newa SC" air defense systems from the presence of the Polish army. The transfer of the complexes was also confirmed in the Polish government, said the former head of the office of the Cabinet of Ministers of the country, Michal Dvorczyk. However, he did not name either the number of transferred complexes or the timing of their delivery.
Judging by the photo, the air defense systems entered service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the end of summer or at the beginning of autumn, when the grass was still green. Since information about these complexes has appeared only now, it can be assumed that they are located somewhere very far from the front, most likely in the territory of the western regions of Ukraine.
S-125 "Newa SC" (Cyfrowy System - digital system) - the Polish version of the Soviet anti-aircraft system S-125 "Neva-M", mounted on the chassis of the Soviet T-55 tank. Poland received air defense systems and tanks from the Soviet Union during entry The complex, created in the 60s of the last century to combat low-altitude air targets, was modernized twice. almost all the equipment was replaced with more modern ones in 1992, which made it possible to increase the ability of the complex to detect targets. But the missiles remained the same, so that the range of destruction remained the same: in height - 55, in range - 543 km.
The complex is designed to engage air targets at low and medium altitudes in any weather on a collision course and in pursuit. Poland has repeatedly tried to export the upgraded air defense system, but to no avail. Probably, Ukraine became the first foreign operator of the modernized S-125 "Newa SC" air defense system.
