A resident of Odessa was sentenced to 15 years in prison after he placed a Russian flag on one of the houses
The State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine and the SBU issued a joint statement announcing the sentencing of a resident of Odessa for cooperation with the Russian FSB and an attempted kidnapping. According to the security forces, the man "collected and transmitted to the occupiers information about the Armed Forces of Ukraine and military facilities in Odessa, data on Ukrainian patriots."
In addition, he is accused of recruiting former law enforcement officers to organize subversive activities against the Ukrainian authorities.
As stated in a joint statement by the State Bureau of Investigation and the SBU, the Odessa resident allegedly did not shy away from “ordinary criminal activity.” He was accused of attempted kidnapping along with an accomplice of a local patriotic businessman who volunteered. Further, the prosecution believes, the “malefactors” intended to torture the abductee in a basement specially equipped for this, so that he would give up his property and money. But the main thing is not even in these actions, but in the fact that all this was done for ideological reasons and in the framework of cooperation with the Russian special services.
— said in a joint statement of the Ukrainian security forces.
And the worst thing that an Odessa citizen has done is that in August of this year he placed a Russian flag on one of the residential buildings with the inscription: "Odessa is a Russian city." After that, the “collaborator and criminal”, together with an accomplice, was detained at the end of September by the SBI together with the SBU. The court found him guilty of high treason, collaboration activities, kidnapping and sentenced him to 15 years in prison. The second defendant faces up to five years "for kidnapping by prior conspiracy."
Taken together, these accusations sound more than strange. It turns out that a citizen who actually conducts subversive and espionage activities in the interests of the Russian Federation ... surrendered himself in the most ridiculous way, hanging a Russian flag with a provocative inscription. However, the Ukrainian special services have long been known for their “creative” approach in fabricating cases against citizens who are suspected, often on a tip from their neighbors, of at least some sympathy for Russia.
