The first batch of cartridges for the pistol 6P72 "Udav" was delivered to the troops

TsNIItochmash delivered the first batch of cartridges for 6P72 Udav pistols to the Russian Ministry of Defense. This was reported by the press service of the Kalashnikov concern, having made a corresponding entry in the Telegram channel.

The troops were sent cartridges with a bullet of increased penetration for conventional pistols "Udav" 6P72 and cartridges with a reduced bullet speed designed for the 6P72-1 pistol, which includes a silencer and a laser pointer capable of working in day and night modes.

TsNIItochmash supplied the Russian Ministry of Defense with the first batch of ammunition for the new 9 mm 6P72 self-loading pistol. The delivery includes a 9 mm cartridge with a bullet of increased penetration (index 7N42) and a 9 mm cartridge with a reduced bullet speed (index 7U4)

- said in a statement.

The Udav 9X21 mm pistol was adopted by the Russian army in 2019 and is still being supplied to the troops in small batches; to date, two installation batches of pistols have been sent to the military and documents for the third have been signed. As previously stated in the Ministry of Defense, the new pistol is mainly intended for special forces and intelligence officers, but drivers, signalmen, logistics specialists, etc. will also be armed with it.

The self-loading pistol "Udav" uses a cartridge of 9x21 mm caliber, specialized ammunition has been developed for it. Firing range 50 meters, magazine capacity 18 rounds. Dimensions: length 206 mm, height 145 mm, width 36 mm. The curb weight of the pistol is 980 g. In the unloaded version, the pistol weighs 200 g less. At a distance of 50 m, the bullet pierces a sheet of armor up to 4 mm thick.

    Firing Range 50 meters

Maybe still sighting range? And now the air guns are shooting farther away ...

The article, in general, is written with intrigue:

That is, the pistol is in service and is supplied to the troops. Now the time has come (end of 2022), for these pistols, to put cartridges in the troops:

If information is taken only from the article, it turns out that the pistol has been in service since 2019, and the cartridges for it have entered the Army only now.

I'm embarrassed to ask .. did you read the article at all? Or just the title? Well, if you haven't read it, it says there -
Cartridges with a bullet went to the troops increased penetration for conventional pistols "Boa" 6P72 and cartridges with reduced bullet speeddesigned for pistol 6P72-

.. and not cartridges in general as such.

What you quoted goes already as a clarification of what was specifically delivered.

And what interesting bullets, with a chisel.

Their aerodynamics are interesting. Throwing projectiles for rifled weapons historically formed for a reason, as bodies of rotation, if we talk about their shape.

And what interesting bullets, with a chisel.
A carbide core sticks out, which should pierce the armor. But what is on top of the core increases the stopping effect of the bullet, that is, increases its destructive power.

        For information:
a bullet from a cartridge of 7,62x25 mm (TT pistol) carries an energy of about 500 J and has a high penetrating effect (capable of penetrating a Kevlar body armor without rigid elements).
A 9x18 mm bullet (PM pistol) carries an energy of about 300 J,
but the lethal force of the PM bullet is higher than that of the TT, since the TT bullet, having broken through the enemy, flies further, taking with it the unused part of the energy, and the PM bullet will get stuck in the body, transferring all the kinetic energy to it.
The 9x21mm cartridge bullet has the advantages of both.

Even on Wiki, the sighting range of the Boa constrictor is "up to 100m". bully

      TSNIITOCHMASH indicates 100 m.
Confusion could be introduced by subsonic cartridges, which Gyurza did not have.

        Ranges are different :)
Sighting range is the range for which sights are designed.
It has a very indirect relation to the real possibility of hitting the enemy at this range. For the evaluation of firearms, the effective firing range (effective firing range) is usually given.

The article should have emphasized that TsNIITochmash (http://www.cniitm.ru/catalog/civilian-weapons/) mastered the production of cartridges for this standard (9x21mm) and began to supply them to the troops. That is, one more production has mastered the production of this product. Which, of course, is good.

I will assume that the "strange shape" is intended for cutting / cutting Kevlar fibers (etc.) in fabric armor packages. An ogival / blunt form of the bullet head pushes / stretches the fibers, a screwdriver - cuts.

A bullet is not a spinning top, as you think)). Calculate how many revolutions the bullet will make before penetrating the fabric armor package, if the rifling pitch is, say, 250 mm and the path of the bullet until penetration (with a punch) is about 50 mm ... :)

Any pistol has a range of 16 20 meters. Why the hell did you have to spend money on developing a pistol? For what, PM and so normally performs its functions. Although what am I talking about, I just need to remember the AK 12

The widespread use of bulletproof vests has made its own adjustments. But for the cops, 9x19 should become the main one, so 9x21 is a purely army cartridge.
