The pace of production of military products by European countries compared with the times of the Cold War
The conflict in Ukraine played into the hands of the military-industrial complex of European countries, especially from Eastern Europe. According to Reuters, the production of weapons and ammunition has increased significantly compared to last year.
The countries of Eastern Europe took advantage of the war in Ukraine to expand or restore military production. According to Western resources, the rate of production of certain types of weapons, as well as ammunition, has reached rates comparable to the times of the Cold War. The rate of production of artillery of all types has especially increased. All this is covered by statements about the need to help Ukraine in its fight against Russia.
To date, the main sponsors of the Zelensky regime are the United States and Great Britain, and among the countries of Eastern Europe - Poland, which is in third place in terms of aid to Kyiv, and the Czech Republic, located in ninth. Both of these countries are actively developing military production, concluding new contracts for the supply of military equipment, including to Ukraine.
The outbreak of hostilities allowed most of the countries of Eastern Europe to get rid of the remnants of Soviet military equipment, utilizing it in hostilities in Ukraine, transferring it to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Now Europe is beginning to re-equip with more modern equipment, at the same time supplying it to Kyiv. Moreover, in Europe they take credit for the “victory” of the Ukrainian army, declaring that without the transferred equipment, the Armed Forces of Ukraine would not be able to “throw back” the Russian army from Kyiv and Kharkov.
The fact that a number of Eastern European countries have increased the production of military equipment and ammunition was recently announced by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. According to him, the alliance intends to continue to support Ukraine, as it cannot allow Russia to win.
