The nuclear submarine HMS Victorious S29 of the British Navy interrupted missions due to a fire on board

The HMS Victorious S29 Vanguard-class nuclear submarine of the Royal Navy was forced to abort a secret mission and return to base due to a fire that broke out on board. It is reported by The Sun.

The British publication, citing sources in the Ministry of Defense, reports that a strategic submarine carrying Trident II intercontinental ballistic missiles was forced to return to its Clyde base, located in Scotland, due to a fire on board. Details of the incident are not given, and there is no information about any damage, but judging by the decision to interrupt some kind of "secret mission", they are still present.

According to sources, because of the fire, the submarine had to surface in the North Atlantic Ocean, the decision was made because of the smoke generated as a result of the fire. After surfacing, the submarine was ventilated, and she headed for the place of permanent deployment.

Victorious was equipped with Trident II missiles when the fire broke out.

- the source said, adding that nothing is known about the submarine's mission, but it was not a standard combat duty. The command of the Navy also refused to give any information, saying that they do not comment on the combat missions of the submarines.

Meanwhile, the British media began to spin the topic of possible saboteurs, who almost were part of the crew of the submarine.

HMS Victorious S29 is the second Vanguard-class submarine in the Royal Navy. Entered service in 1995, carries 16 Trident II intercontinental ballistic missiles.

So far, it can be considered as a "duck" from journalists. It's too early to rejoice.

tralflot1832, you are an adequate person here, so I ask - what does the "utyara" have to do with it? The fact that the small British have an extremely underdeveloped, virtually absent, and submarine and surface fleet, is known to the entire planet. A completely broken down non-aircraft carrier, the last launch of T2D5 in 2016 and that disastrous one, TWELVE destroyed British ships against a semi-defenseless lonely Argentina in 1980, etc. - is that not enough? To understand how small-shaven are weak and helpless. So at one point relatively recently (2017-2019) ALL submarines broke downlaughing
By the way, everything is not so joyful near the mattress "Ohio-Louisiana", apparently in March 2022, it went off notably, the explosion of ballast in the first and second compartments, in the American military forums they wrote in the summer that it was to be written off, especially since the same boat had an accident in 2016, did it for a long time. The Association of Metallurgists of the United States also this spring stated that it was unrealistic to restore the ruined "muzzle" of "Connecticut" (in South China last year), it would go to the cannibalism of the remaining two "Sea Wolfs". The French 3 years ago, their nuclear submarine "Pearl" burned to hell.
And this year the IMF receives three brand new nuclear and 3 brand new non-nucleargood.

It’s just San, the tabloid press. About the fire without human casualties, the fleet headquarters was 100% silent. There was an ascent, if it was. Here is the message of the article, the reasons may be different. on the last steamer, it weighed 7 tons, the rudder on the nuclear submarine will be in the trash and the board will be lost. And no one will even talk about this board, it is a consumable item. Our bureaucracy is already dealing with the board. If, of course, it surfaced in the fishing area and there was our fisherman, 200% it should be where it should be. hi

I probably don’t know ... but there was a war for the Falklands in 1982 year.and not in 1980. And the British losses were somewhat more modest:
During the conflict from UK 258 people died, 777 were injured, in addition, 2 destroyers, 2 frigates and 2 auxiliary ships were lost. For Argentina The Falklands War cost 649 lives, 1068 were wounded and 11313 captured. In addition, the Argentine Navy lost a submarine, a light cruiser and 75 aircraft.

        what about the "duck" here?

But with this - I agree. There is a statement of the fact that the STRATEGY ASCENTS in the NP (!) Not at the receiving buoy at the entrance to the base, but in the open sea, probably even in the ROP (!) In my humble opinion, this is an emergency! Because it was not possible to suppress the fire in the PP, and the CEP decided to surface. And the strategist was not empty, but with SLBMs on board ... This is FORCE MAJOR. It is not yet known what actually happened, or if there were any casualties. Details will come later, but for now we are discussing the fact of an emergency ascent of SSBNs in the North Atlantic.
And if she goes to the NP to the CLYDE, then this is serious.
        IMHO.

How was our corvette Agile rebuilt there, or was it slowly shoved into the scrap?

Judging by the fact that it calmly surfaced, ventilated and went on its own, it was probably a small fire. We decided not to take risks, which of course is correct with ballistic missiles on board.

Not going to argue with you, I just want to ask - is there a difference between "surfaced" (well, as usual, probably, as always surfaced) and "quietly surfaced" (as you write)? This, it turns out, slowly surfaced? And where did you read in such detail about this incident?

You are probably "English" ... therefore, from your point of view, this is correct ...
But to me, the foster child of the Soviet submarine, such behavior of the commander of the English SSBN suggests that the crew could not put out the fire in the PP, so they had to fight it in the NP. It was probably possible to ventilate the boat by hanging on the periscope - through the RDP shaft ... But the situation was such that I had to surface, completely violating the laws of the submarine on the secrecy of SSBNs with ROCKETS on board !!! The boat was definitely on alert, because. SLBMs are not loaded on board for a "walk" according to the BP plan! And she was not in the BP training ground, but in the ROP, in the waters of the North Atlantic ... And after airing the compartments, the boat did not sink, but went to the base in the NP. This indicates the severity of the accident.
Of course, I could be wrong, because. I do not know the true situation on board. But if what is written in the material is true, then for me the matter is NOT ICE !!! negative
Therefore, this (according to our ranking) is an incident according to the list ... with carriers of NUCLEAR WEAPONS (!)
      And this is serious.

It’s not a young boat, it’s smoking somewhere. Hardly a sabotage.

Smoking in inappropriate places is often the cause of a fire. However, in this case, everything worked out, they surfaced, ventilated and calmed down. But now it's up to the press. I can give it as an option. Russian agent Highly Likely sneaked in with brazen goals, set fire to an ashtray, surfaced to avoid responsibility, but he was exposed.

I don’t understand the main thing - why haven’t we, Russia, been accused of sabotage on board this submarine yet ?! Time is running out! It's time to blame...

Apparently, they cannot agree on the number of arsonists. If you say little, so many Moremans will tell you there and did not manage it. If you say a lot, they will say they did not notice such a crowd. Straight bad.

Given that the boat is 27 years old, this is not at all surprising. Another thing is pleasant - the boats "die", but there is no replacement.

I could get into the trawl to the fisherman, so I surfaced. They are rather weak against trawls.

Purely out of curiosity. If there are knowledgeable people, please reply. Why do British and American submarines have such high cabins? The Soviet and Russian ones are much lower, judging by the photographs and drawings. In nature, I have not seen nuclear submarines.
