French shipbuilding company DCNS presented at the Euronaval-2012 salon the concept of the new SMX 26 submarine

The French shipbuilding company DCNS for the first time presented at the Euronaval-2012 cabin the concept of a new submarine SMX 26. This ultra small submarine (SMPL) is designed to operate in shallow coastal areas that are not accessible to conventional submarines.

SMX 26 can stay without movement for a long period of time in the desired coastal shallow water area less than 15 meters deep, monitoring the environment, and then attack its target on board weapons.

The main power plant has two shafts that drive two propellers, as well as four retractable engines to move in azimuth.

Due to the presence of a retractable landing gear, the boat can be at the bottom of the water area in a stabilized position, receiving air and recharging the batteries using flexible hoses ejected onto the surface.

With the help of an onboard sensor system, the boat can monitor both surface and underwater conditions.

The boat can also carry up to 6 combat swimmers. Two weapons systems are integrated into the boat's mast: a 20 mm cannon to support actions against surface targets, and missile container for provision Defense from air targets.

The main offensive weapons are 2 heavy and 8 light torpedoes with powerful combat units.

Well stupid! It looks good on the render, but let them find such a flat bottom in the real world. And so without silt. And so that without mussels and shells that the wheels will set at the first touch.

receiving air and recharging rechargeable batteries by means of flexible hoses thrown to the surface.

Well, yes, and the enemy certainly will not notice the hoses. And the seagulls do not sit on the hoses and do not mess inside. To go nuts.

Another durilovo. In a shallow, coastal pair of dolphins will discover her for three miles. Then a sea lion will swim.

If what is in the photo, then it completely sucks. And if at the bottom of the silt? It looks like a WWII plane.

As a single combat unit, it makes no sense.
And massively arrange them in shallow water, I think there will be a problem with camouflage.

In addition, shallow water you get tired of looking in the form of a plateau to put on the chassis.
In general, some kind of slightly combat-ready project seems.
If only for countries of the 3rd world.

This is a lure for Taburetkin, "Menstral" is not enough for him, now he will also buy this toilet duck if he is not jailed before that!

Small submarines with crew on board, this is the last century.
Small submarines will not be able to compete with underwater robots.

Well, the idea itself is not new, and such boats existed and still exist, another matter is how this project was implemented, some chassis, two shafts, a cannon, air defense, what for? Well, you can also attach an aerostat to it so that it measures the wind force at altitude

But I have a long-standing idea: if an SSBN is launched into the Kuibyshev reservoir, such a flat one, but with missiles, here we will have depths of up to 30 meters (and if at Sayano-Shushenskaya, then up to 200), it lies (floats), waiting in the wings, the adversary is not around, except that the next "Bulgaria" (sorry, not out of malice) will be lowered from above ... So I wrote and thought: was it I was joking or what? ...

Without superiority in major offensive weapons at sea, it is just a toy.
    Modern Russian Navy (defensive):
    1. SSBN.
    2. Forces covering SSBN-FRIGATES, CORVETS, DPEL, MPLATRK.
    3. Invasion Prevention Forces — FREGATES, CORVETS, DPEL, MPLATRK) + RTOs, landing ships (for ToF and Black Sea Fleet).

Oh, these designers, oh, really worked ...
The main offensive weapons are 2 heavy and 8 light torpedoes with powerful combat units.

Let's say French heavy torpedoes are not even 650, but 533 mm. In this case, judging by the proportions in the picture - the height of the submarine is at least 5 meters. Plus wheels. For depths less than 15 somehow it turns out to be too much, in more or less transparent water it will be visible from the moon without binoculars, and the fig will stay in place even during a small storm. Either it will be thrown ashore, or dragged into the depths.
Let's move on: the torpedo tube, it will be larger in size than the torpedo itself. A couple of large ones, eight small ones, torpedo replacement tanks for them - in total, they ate up half of the submarine's internal volume. Well, even a third. In the remaining space, it is necessary to squeeze in the central gas cylinder, motors, batteries, sonar system, high-pressure cylinders, latrine, galley, commander, helmsman, and 6 underwater saboteurs with scuba gear. Plus many other naval useful things. And don't forget the hose discharge device. And the cannon. And the air defense system. Where all this will fit is absolutely unclear.

Conclusion: either the submarine in the picture has nothing to do with the subject of the conversation, or the authors of this "concept" understand even less about submarines than I do.

Gentlemen submariners, if there are any, can you clarify? =)))
