Zakharova: Moscow handed over to Yerevan and Baku comprehensive proposals for a peace treaty
The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said during a briefing that Moscow had prepared and submitted proposals for concluding a peace treaty to the leadership of Azerbaijan and Armenia for consideration. She stressed that it is inappropriate to comment on the details of the document and the ongoing negotiations between the parties.
Zakharova said.
The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that Russia is not engaged in self-promotion in such a complex issue, but is aimed at achieving a specific result. Moscow's approach to this issue is extremely clear, which cannot be said about Western mediators who are trying to interfere in the process of resolving the conflict between Baku and Yerevan.
Zakharova noted, adding that Moscow is ready to “support those efforts that lead to tangible positive results.”
It should be noted that Russia is constantly working diplomatically to resolve the long-term conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia over territorial disputes in the border regions of Nagorno-Karabakh. Two years ago, it was Moscow that initiated and became a party to the trilateral agreement on the cessation of hostilities between the warring parties.
Ankara is actively intervening in the peace process. Turkey does not hide sympathy for Azerbaijan, while Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is making considerable diplomatic efforts to reconcile the warring parties and improve relations with Armenia. After all, despite the common border, there are no diplomatic relations between Armenia and Turkey. The Turkish leader seeks to rectify this situation
It became known today that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met on Thursday in Prague on the sidelines of the European Political Community summit. This was reported by the Turkish TV channel A Haber. And although the details of the meeting are unknown, Turkish media write that Erdogan intends to hold direct talks with Pashinyan to establish diplomatic relations and resolve the Karabakh conflict.
