German press: There are calls for assistance from German municipalities due to the influx of Ukrainian refugees
59
According to the German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung, more than two dozen German municipalities are asking for financial help due to the influx of Ukrainian refugees. The municipalities addressed this request to the Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country, N. Fraser.
According to the publication, the SOS signal from the regions was received at the end of September. The appeal to the Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs refers to a significant shortage of essential items for refugees from Ukraine, as well as a shortage of housing for them.
Municipalities cornered, we've reached a dangerous line
- noted in the appeal of the regional authorities.
The situation is further complicated by the fact that refugees continue to arrive in Germany in significant numbers. It should be noted here that Germany is a desirable target for many representatives of poor states. Many so-called refugees don't just want to run away from the fighting, but want to seize the moment to settle down in wealthy Germany for years.
According to the chairman of the Association of German Cities Markus Levi, in order to support the Ukrainian refugees arriving in the country, closer coordination between the federal government and the governments of the federal states is necessary, especially in the distribution of refugees among municipalities.
Recall that in August the number of refugees from Ukraine in Germany exceeded one million people.
