The US Army will now allocate less funds for military uniforms for women than for men
According to the American media, against the backdrop of record inflation, as a result of which the cost of living has risen sharply, the cost of military uniforms for women will be cut.
Once a year, every US Army soldier receives a clothing allowance designed to replace or update their uniforms. The budget for the standard allowance for female military personnel is now being reduced from $561,78 to $507,48 for the new fiscal year beginning October 1st. At the same time, a similar allowance for men increased slightly - from $509,11 to $517,34.
According to the official version, funds for uniforms for women have been cut, as the price of the uniform itself has decreased slightly - by about $ 3,02. However, economists say that this is the slyness of the Pentagon, since there could not have been any drops in prices for uniforms lately.
The new allowances for men and women have been swapped for the first time in a long time, despite the ingrained belief that women typically spend more on their uniforms than men.
A 2021 U.S. Office of Public Accountability report stated that servicewomen pay approximately $8000 out of pocket over a 20-year career, twice what men pay.
Part of the reason for this difference is that women required additional uniform items during their careers, such as skirts for dress uniforms and maternity uniforms.
