How to shoot down commercial drones

After the start of the NWO, it became clear that commercial drones, colloquially - quadrics, have become the main means of observation and reconnaissance over the front line and near rear. And here our enemy turned out to be more prepared than the Russian army - personnel standing under artillery attacks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine tank columns taken from drones filled Youtube.

Surprisingly, the rich experience of using such equipment by the people's militia of the DPR and LPR was completely ignored by Russian generals, however, this is not even surprising. If, after Karabakh, the UAVs did not saturate the troops, and the loitering ammunition was not prepared in the required quantity, then what can we say about these “stupid buzzers”.

One of the greats said that one should not look for betrayal where simple stupidity is enough.

However, recently we all read the statement of a high-ranking Russian military man that, they say, the Drones do not meet the "high requirements" for such equipment. So things are still there, and will be there for a long time.

In the meantime, manufacturing capitalists are keeping a close eye on the needs of consumers, and drones like the recently announced 48x stabilized zoom video camera movie, equipped with a thermal imaging camera and holder for “various devices” are already appearing. So we see citizens who need all this. But from a military point of view, we have an ideal scout and even a grenade thrower.

Okay, it's all whining and rhetorical questions. Drones have entered the fighting tightly, and this is a fact.

But how to deal with drones?

Again, I’m sure that many have seen a video where the Russian Pantsir unsuccessfully tried to shoot down a drone flying over it, and it was during the exercises. Indeed, a quadcopter is a very difficult target. Small, subtle and distant.

For example, a drone hanging at a height of one kilometer will be inaccessible to small-caliber artillery fire, even if it is noticed. And you still have to get in.

The emerging electronic warfare systems, made in the form of hand-held jammers, do not solve the problem. They usually act on the control channel, trying to either intercept it or drown it out.

But modern encrypted channels are almost impossible to hack, and in order to drown out, you must again visually detect a drone and aim a “gun” there. The square of distance never goes away, and the power required to jam is not available to portable devices.

So what to do?

It seems that we will have to revive large-caliber anti-aircraft artillery, capable of throwing a projectile to a great height and scattering a cloud of fragments there. Damage to a drone is easy, even a small fragment can do it, and if the projectile is equipped with ready-made submunitions, then even better.

This is how the picture emerges. I wonder if we still have 85-mm anti-aircraft guns in storage?

do we have 85-mm anti-aircraft guns in storage?
    And barrage balloons?

During World War II, balloons, anti-aircraft guns, and fighters were used.
I’m not sure about barrage balloons - it’s too easy to bypass them for a low-speed and maneuverable target. But fighters must be created from scratch.
A high-speed UAV capable of finding and destroying enemy UAVs, and distinguishing friend from foe.
An obvious and researched concept around the world.
And Russia cannot be left behind. Otherwise, when a full-scale war starts with NATO, we will be left without drones.

The war with NATO is already underway. And we are without UAVs and a lot more without anything. The top ones were not going to fight. They liked the Crimea. Cheap and angry.

    Maybe still not large-caliber?
And "Shilka", "Tunguska" plus a modern small radar on the go? This is for small things, like copters.

And against large drones, such as Bayraktar TV2, already ordinary anti-aircraft guns from 85 mm.
Plus, the Yak-130 as a fighter, and cheap and faster than a reconnaissance and strike drone, a kamikaze fighter drone guided by a radar from the ground.

No, the author said to the morgue, so to the morgue! laughing

If only I looked at Wiki banal, about the reach of the MZA, not to mention the programmable detonation of the projectile. (I know it's not yet, but I believe it will be)

Why is that? The lightest ZU-23-2 has a kill zone of 1.5 km in height. 30 mm guns "Pantsir" reach 4 km. Getting in is hard.

    Derivation and 57mm?
Automatic mortar with a programmable fuse?

The copter must seriously radiate to transmit video over several kilometers, there are no problems to detect from the technical side, especially if it is commercial, you can simply track all the new products and the frequencies at which they operate.

Will they make directional antennas with orientation systems on copters?
In principle, it is also not very difficult.

Maybe they will even make simulators - decoys, an empty box that can only fly a few kilometers, hang for 30 minutes, while emitting in the standard range for a copter.

I have already read so many times about what we will have ...
Only now the quadrocopters hang on the troops and it’s impossible to shoot them down from the mza.

In one training center, at the rifle range, there has been a simulator for 2 years already, on which they practice shooting from sniper rifles just at quadrocopters and other small UAVs

Make canister ammunition. It’s even time for tanks to do it, the Abrams have buckshot available, such shells are especially effective in cities against infantry at ranges up to 500 meters.

In general, the simplest option is to accurately determine the range and use shells with detonation at a set point. The caliber doesn't really matter anymore.

In fact, 30mm would be even better than 85

the richest experience in the use of such equipment by the people's militia of the DPR and LPR

Where did this experience come from NM LPR? All drones were banned there, incl. and for the military.

If he was seen from the ground, then the height is 300-400 meters. You won't see it for miles.
Geese flying at high altitude are fired with 3.5" BBB shot and sometimes finished off. But the goose flies fast. And this one hangs motionless

They lived: A shell for commercial quadrocopters. He will probably shoot off half of the ammunition until he hits

For this, derivation is needed, but where is it? In my opinion, it is high time to revive anti-aircraft artillery systems with modern filling: radars + optoelectronic means with a powerful heat pack and remote detonation. Ideally, such ZAKs should solve the main problem of air defense - overload. Missile systems can focus on priority targets - airplanes, helicopters, ballistic, cruise missiles, feed the rest to ZAK - rocket launchers, UAVs, in the long term shells (at least the teplok detects shells perfectly, it remains to adjust the radar). But of course it's not now. In a quick way, you can add a telescopic observation tube with a panoramic sight + thermal sight to the ZSU, to deal specifically with quadrics.
