US plans to deliver 500 satellite-guided extended-range M982 Excalibur projectiles to Ukraine
Journalists from the American tabloid Defense News found out some details about the composition of the latest $625 billion military aid package for Ukraine, which President Joe Biden announced earlier. It draws attention to the fact that the motivational rhetoric of the Pentagon representatives on the topic of supplies has changed. weapons. If earlier they argued that Kyiv needs military support to protect the state, now they are openly talking about the need to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine in developing offensive success.
— said at a briefing Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia, adding that "Ukrainian forces are making progress in Kharkiv and southern Kherson regions."
According to the American publication, the latest delivery will include 155-mm extended-range M982 Excalibur satellite-guided active rockets in the amount of 500 pieces. This is not the first such party. At the same time, both the points of import of these ammunition to Ukraine and the further links of the logistics chain for the delivery of Excalibur to the places of warfare have long been established. However, deliveries continue to be virtually unhindered, which raises more and more questions.
It is already known that the Pentagon will supply four more HIMARS MLRS and ammunition for them. The military assistance package will include 200 MaxxPro armored vehicles with enhanced mine protection and MRAP wheeled armored vehicles. The new trench will contain Claymore anti-personnel mines and several 155mm and 105mm howitzers.
To replenish ammunition, which the Armed Forces of Ukraine are using at an unreasonably fast pace (some of the RF Armed Forces are still being destroyed in warehouses), the Pentagon will send 75 shells for 000-mm howitzers. Counting on the further offensive of the Ukrainian army, American sponsors also took care of clearing possible areas of defense of the RF Armed Forces, allocating 155 remote shells to clear anti-tank mines. Wherein Tanks, as already reported, did not.
In total, taking into account this (very modest compared to previous tranches) supply, the cost of US military assistance to Kyiv during the Biden administration will reach $17,5 billion. For comparison: the United States spent more than two trillion dollars on the disastrous twenty-year military campaign in Afghanistan, the lion's share of which, however, settled in the budgets of the military-industrial structures of the United States itself.
At the same time, it became known today that the US government debt for the first time exceeded $31 trillion, experts predict its further increase and the growth in the cost of servicing US government bonds. In the election, Biden promised to cut the deficit by $1 trillion over ten years. But since the beginning of his presidency, the deficit has so far grown by $5 trillion. This is a record increase for accounting time (less than half of the presidential term).
