Zelensky documented the refusal of any negotiations with Putin
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has documented the refusal of any negotiations with the head of the Russian state Vladimir Putin. They issued a corresponding decree.
The document was published on the official website of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
The reason for the rejection of negotiations between the two presidents was the signing in the Kremlin of agreements on the admission of four new regions to Russia, which Kyiv considers its own. As for Putin, he expressed his readiness to continue the negotiation process, but intends to exclude from it the discussion of the status of the republics of Donbass, as well as the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. Moreover, a referendum was held in these regions, at which the inhabitants unambiguously expressed their desire to join the Russian Federation.
First, the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine announced the refusal to negotiate with Putin, which was soon confirmed by a presidential decree. The document entered into force at the time of publication. Zelensky also turned to the Rada with a recommendation to strengthen sanctions against the Russian Federation in response to the "escalation" on its part.
Prior to the start of the special operation in Ukraine, the president of that country had repeatedly spoken out in favor of negotiations with Putin. In response, the Kremlin said that it did not see the need for this yet. In the spring, negotiations began, but were soon thwarted by the Ukrainian side.
