The American leadership reacted negatively to Zelensky's application for an accelerated entry of Ukraine into NATO
Immediately after the signing by Russian President Vladimir Putin of the agreements on joining the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions into the Russian Federation, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he had filed an application for the country's entry into NATO.
Jens Stoltenberg, Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance, was one of the first to respond to the application. He noted that decisions on the admission of new members are made in the bloc by consensus. Then followed the reaction of the United States.
According to the American newspaper Politico, Zelensky unpleasantly surprised the administration of President Joe Biden with his application. Washington was very wary of such a request from the Kyiv leadership.
Speaker of the House of Representatives of the US Congress Nancy Pelosi refused to support the idea of Ukraine joining NATO at the moment. But, of course, she uttered the usual words that she was in favor of security guarantees for Ukraine.
According to Politico, the American establishment fears that Ukraine's accession to NATO will lead to an open armed confrontation between the United States and Russia. And this is the same World War III, and not in the proxy version, but in the nuclear one. Nobody wants to die, so Zelensky's statements were clearly met with no enthusiasm.
And Ukraine is not beneficial to the West in NATO, since it has been prepared for a completely different role - a kamikaze suicide bomber to inflict the maximum possible damage on Russia until the Kyiv regime is disposed of.
