In the African country of Burkina Faso, power has passed into the hands of the military
As a result of a military coup in the African Republic of Burkina Faso, the head of state, Paul-Henri Damiba, was overthrown. The overthrow of the head of the country, who was at the head of Burkina Faso not so long ago, was reported by the military themselves. They took control of state television and announced that they were taking power into their own hands for a transitional period.
The leader of the coup was an officer of the country's army, Ibrahim Traore. Damiba did not last even 8 months in power.
At the moment, it is known that the government of this African country has been dissolved, the actions of the constitution and the previously signed so-called interim charter have been suspended by the military seized power in the country.
Captain Ibrahim Traore:
The leader of the anti-government movement also said that the military was suspending political and social activities in the country.
This is the second coup in Burkina Faso (formerly Upper Volta) in 8 months. In January, Damiba came to power in a wave of a coup, overthrowing the previous president, Marc Kabore. Damiba's main slogan was that he would make the country safer. But nothing like this happened, as a result of which the riots began to cover the capital of the country - the city of Ouagadougou.
An interesting appeal from the military command that seized power as a result of the coup:
The UN got off with the traditional languid statement that they are concerned about what is happening in Burkina Faso. According to UN official S. Dujarric, Burkina Faso needs peace and unity to fight terrorists and extremists.
