German media: West must persuade Zelensky to enter into peace talks with Moscow
The West must convince Zelensky to enter into peace talks with Moscow. He needs to understand that the conclusion of peace will be beneficial to everyone.
This opinion was expressed by Oliver Stock in his article for the German magazine Focus.
Otherwise, the German media notes, the Ukrainian conflict is capable of reaching a completely new, highly undesirable level. The author even admits the option that it could escalate into the Third World War. To prevent such a development of events, a transition to peace negotiations is necessary.
At the same time, it is not at all necessary that the West be the mediator in the negotiation process between Kyiv and Moscow. This could be done by someone who maintains normal relations with both sides of the conflict, for example, Turkish President Erdogan.
But none of this is possible until Zelenskiy is committed to negotiations. Shtok believes that, oddly enough, Western weapons supplies. At the same time, the German journalist has a very peculiar vision of the Western “peacekeeping mission”. He says that Zelensky should only be supplied with weapons when he "accompanies every shot with a peace proposal." The author believes that Western military assistance should continue until Ukraine is restored to the borders that it controlled before February 24, and only then begin negotiations on Crimea and other issues.
In other words, his "peace initiative" is to continue supplying weapons to Ukraine until it regains control over all lost territories, except, for now, Crimea.
