The head of the Pentagon refused to put forward hypotheses about who is guilty of sabotage on the Nord Stream gas pipelines
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said at a press conference in the state of Hawaii that he "wouldn't guess" who was responsible for the explosions that occurred on four of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines. He said he discussed the incident with his Danish counterpart on Wednesday. The head of the Pentagon stressed that many hypotheses and versions are now being put forward about who might be behind the sabotage on gas pipelines, but “until the investigation is fully completed, no one will be able to say for sure what happened.”
- summed up the US Secretary of Defense.
Such a neutral position of the head of the Pentagon fits well into the general line of conduct of US officials regarding this international emergency. President Joe Biden, at a meeting at the Federal Emergency Management Agency, declined to comment on sabotage on Russian gas pipelines, answering a direct question from one of the journalists as follows:
After that, the American president thanked those present and promptly retreated.
For some reason, earlier nothing and no one prevented him from talking about everything, about anything, but not about America against the backdrop of problems in America ...
The State Department, in turn, promised that they would help investigate explosions on gas pipelines. US Foreign Ministry spokesman Ned Price habitually stated that allegations of US involvement in sabotage on the two strings of the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines are "Russian disinformation." At the same time, neither Biden nor Austin admit that the explosion occurred in a zone controlled by American intelligence.
In all this hype, experts note one very important detail. The fact is that US intelligence and law enforcement agencies are not legally obliged to share with each other secret information about operations carried out outside the United States. Moreover, CIA employees, even if they find evidence of involvement in certain incidents that took place in other countries, must deny their participation in them to the last.
Earlier, the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, called the United States "an absolute beneficiary" in the situation with gas pipeline explosions. After all, now Europe simply has nowhere to go, except to increase purchases of LNG from American companies. Moreover, this will have to be done at very high prices.
Today, an emergency meeting of the Security Council, convened at the initiative of Russia, is to be held at the UN to discuss the incident on the gas pipeline. Perhaps our representative will propose the creation of an international commission to investigate this incident, which would be quite logical. If one of the Western countries that make up the Security Council vetoes such a decision, then the involvement of the United States, or another country controlled by Washington, in sabotage will become more than obvious. On the other hand, the West can say that if the explosions took place in the exclusive economic zone of Denmark and Sweden, then commissions from these countries will investigate, which will automatically mean that the culprit has long been appointed.
