Representatives of the British Ministry of Defense: Explosive devices near the Nord Stream gas pipelines could have been planted several months or years ago
A report was released on the British TV channel Sky News, which presents the comments of the United Kingdom authorities on explosions on gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea. Recall that a gas leak was recorded during the week (on three lines out of four) of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream-2 gas pipelines. The Swedish Seismological Service noted that it recorded vibrations that "cannot be attributed to natural tectonic processes." In Stockholm, confirmed the data that we are talking about explosions.
The British authorities, commenting on the situation and answering journalists' questions, say that the damage to the gas pipelines is not related to the actions of a submarine of any of the countries. Sky News, referring to unnamed representatives in the British Ministry of Defense, quotes this kind of quote in the report:
It should be noted that the pipes of the Nord Stream gas pipelines run in the area of the Danish island of Bornholm at a depth of about 130-140 m. This is where the leak occurs.
British officials say that if any sabotage operation was carried out from a submarine, it would be established in the preparation phase of this operation - at such a depth.
From the material:
Recall that gas was not pumped through Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2. Nord Stream 2 is under sanctions and its work has not been started after construction. And "SP-1" did not work because of the discovered problems with gas-pumping turbines. At the same time, the gas remained in the gas pipeline strings (without pumping) under a certain pressure. Explosions led to the fact that gas from a depth of 130 meters began to emerge on the surface of the Baltic Sea.
