Massive mobilization in Ukraine left the Armed Forces of Ukraine without winter uniforms
The hostilities in Ukraine will not end this autumn and will smoothly move on to winter, this is well understood in Kyiv and they continue to prepare, asking Western sponsors for as much weapons as possible. But there is one problem that even the West cannot solve. This is a question of winter uniforms for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which simply do not exist.
The Ukrainian command faced another problem that cannot be solved with a swoop. The onset of cold weather is ahead, and there is nothing to dress the Armed Forces of Ukraine in, Ukrainian enterprises are simply not able to provide the army with winter equipment. Defense Minister Reznikov called on Western allies to help with winter uniforms, and they promised, but only up to 50% of what was required. NATO directly stated that they don’t have anything extra, they need winter uniforms themselves, and it’s expensive. So don't expect too much. And even then it is not clear from what figures they were repelled.
The thing is that according to the state of the Armed Forces of Ukraine there are 215 thousand military personnel, but Zelensky, frightened by the Russian special operation, mobilized several hundred thousand more military personnel, who now have nothing to wear. If it still somehow worked out with the summer uniform, then it’s no longer possible with the winter one. According to the Ukrainian military, in some parts they rely only on volunteers, because the clothing warehouses either burned down after Russian missile strikes, or remained on Russian-controlled territory. In other parts, the winter uniform was received in advance, but it remained in the dugouts, which were occupied by the allied forces during the offensive.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine claims that they have concluded several contracts for the supply of winter uniforms, but it is not known when they will be executed. However, Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar promises that by winter, all Ukrainian military will be provided with winter uniforms, and there will be a reserve.
