Consul of the Consulate General of Japan in Vladivostok Matoki Tatsunori has been declared persona non grata and must leave Russia in the near future. As it turned out, the Japanese was engaged in espionage activities and was detained by the FSB.
According to the FSB CSO, the Japanese consul was caught red-handed when he received information of limited distribution. Matoki Tatsunori tried to obtain information about Russia's cooperation with one of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region for money. On the video of the interrogation of the consul, the interpreter asked him if he understood that he was violating the laws of Russia with his actions, Tatsunori replied that he "now understands." Prior to his arrest, he allegedly did not know about it.
